Burgundy’s dijon mustard
Where Mustard comes from!
Mustard is a very old spice which was used 3000 years ago by the Chinese. Egyptians, Greeks and Romans even cooked with it too.
From the XIV Century, Dijon specialized in the manufacturing of mustard which was served on the Dukes of Burgundy’s tables and was appreciated for its digestive and antiseptic virtues.
The name “Moutarde de Dijon” is not an appellation, but is the name of the production method that was defined in a decree on the 10th of September 1937.
