8 Reasons not to Miss the French Property Exhibition
Karen Tait lists 8 reasons not to miss the exhibition! The French Property Exhibition will be taking place on 25th and 26th January 2025 at the Novotel, London West in Hammersmith.
1. Meet experts across the whole spectrum of the French property world
The French Property Exhibition is a unique event, bringing the crème de la crème of the French property industry together under one roof for one weekend in January. No need to travel to France, you can meet with estate agents, cross-border solicitors, tax and financial advisers, currency brokers, relocation and visa specialists, removals companies, architects and more all in one place.
2. Discuss your property requirements face to face with agents
Browsing through the online property portals is a great way to get a feel for the market and see what’s available for your budget. But there’s nothing like meeting the agents in the flesh and getting their help with pinpointing the best locations and properties for you. Many of them are expats who have been through the process themselves and have a wealth of knowledge and personal experience to share. And if you’re selling a French property, they can help with that too!
3. Find out if you’ll need a visa
If you’re a non-EU national, you don’t need a visa for trips of under 90 days in 180 days. But if you want to stay longer – for example, for extended periods at your French holiday home – you’ll need a long-stay visa. If you want to work while you’re there, you’ll need a working visa. And if you want to relocate permanently, you’ll also need to start with a visa. Luckily, the experts at the exhibition know all the ins and outs of the different visas and relevant requirements, and will be able to answer all your queries.
4. Get help with your move to France
If you’re planning on moving lock, stock and barrel to France, you’ll have lots to think about, from finding a home to carrying out renovation work, organising moving day, navigating the visa and residency process, setting up insurance and banking, and more. Come along to the exhibition and you can plan ahead for a smooth transition.
5. Have your legal questions answered
French laws tend to differ from those in the UK, from the legal process for property transactions to inheritance planning (an essential step before you buy a property) – so it pays to be aware now of how things work so you can avoid unwelcome surprises further down the line.
6. Seek financial and tax advice
How will you transfer your property deposit and final purchase settlement to France? Avoiding adverse currency fluctuations, of course. If you’re selling your property, will you pay capital gains tax? Planning on working in France, and not sure of the income tax rates? Find answers to all these questions and more at the exhibition.
7. Attend the free seminars
Over the two days, there will be a programme of free seminars, deep-diving into all the key aspects of buying a property, choosing a location and moving to France, as well as those essential tax and financial issues.
8. Meet the FrenchEntrée and French Property News teams!
Do come along and say hello to the team. Between us, we have many years of experience and knowledge of the French property market and life in France, and we’d love to hear all about your French plans. You can find out too about the FrenchEntrée membership scheme.
The French Property Exhibition is hosted by France Media Group, publisher of French Property News and France Today magazines as well as the FrenchEntrée and Complete France websites.
