I first travelled to France aged 17, hitch-hiking across the country with school-friends. We returned the following year with a better means of transport - a 1960s Morris 1000 Traveller - and spent a month touring from Calais down the West coast, across the Pyrénées and eventually reached Menton on the border with Italy.
These experiences must have planted a seed within me because after a long career in media I took a sabbatical with my family in 2003 and we moved to live in the Charente. It was a great time, leading to many new adventures and meeting some lovely people.
One of the things that came out of our time there was the website FrenchEntrée.com, a hobby that has turned into a business. In 2014 we celebrate 10 years of publishing and sharing information, advice and inspiration on living and holidaying in France and buying French property.
As Editor in Chief of our sister publication, France Today, www.francetoday.com, I am fortunate enough to travel in France regularly and even after many years I am still thrilled to discover the amazing diversity of its landscapes and destinations, the fascinating history and culture and I continue to enjoy the warmth and personality of the French people.
